When sewage breaks down in an anaerobic (oxygen-free) environment, it releases biogas. This is mostly made up of methane and carbon dioxide, and can be captured and converted into energy.

Using biogas benefits the environment and helps us to reach our target of net zero emissions by 2030. It:

In 2023 we completed a new solar farm at ETP, which is set to become one of Australia’s largest ‘behind-the-meter’ solar installations. It’s one of the many ways we’re adapting our operations to prepare for a changing climate.
