The Australian Water Awards were announced last night at its gala event, held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre as part of Ozwater’24.

The water industry’s night of nights at the Ozwater’24 gala dinner celebrates outstanding work by individuals and organisations, and recognises innovation in technology, business and project delivery.

We're thrilled to win the Infrastructure Project Innovation Excellence Award award alongside our partner John Holland-KBR Joint Venture for our Biogas Handling System Stage 1 Upgrade at the Eastern Treatment Plant. The Award recognises significant and innovative water infrastructure projects driving prosperity and sustainability.

The project team worked collaboratively to support Melbourne Water’s commitment to a path to net zero. The biogas handling system, previously below ground, has now been constructed above ground and outdoors making it safer for operators. Additionally, the design allows maintenance to be undertaken with minimal impacts. This project is an industry-leading example of Melbourne Water delivering necessary operational requirements, while ensuring immediate and on-going social, economic, and environmental benefits.

We're proud of this achievement and grateful for the collaborative efforts that made it possible. Congratulations to the Melbourne Water project team and John Holland-KBR Joint Venture.
