Yarra Collaboration Committee visits Birrarung Marr’s Greenline Project

The City of Melbourne has officially opened the first stunning stretch of the Greenline Project at Birrarung Marr.

Situated along the river’s edge, this projects demonstrates how Melbourne’s riverfront can support culture, connection, recreation and ecology and invite us to deepen our relationship with Birrarung.

Earlier this month, the Yarra Collaboration Committee experienced this transformation firsthand during its first On Country workshop for 2026. The group visited the Greenline Project Hub and the Birrarung Marr site hearing from City of Melbourne’s Skye Haldane and Wurundjeri Woi‑wurrung cultural educator Joe Costello.

The visit was an inspiring opportunity to learn, connect, and witness how cultural knowledge, design, and care for Country are coming together along Birrarung.
