Our commitment is that we will meet service standards at least 90% of the time from March 2025.

In February 2025 we:

  • processed 83% of applications within service standards
  • achieved over 90% for 3 application categories
  • made substantial progress on reducing overdue applications for the remaining application categories.

This will enable us to achieve our 90% commitment in March 2025.

We’ve been working for some time to improve our approach to processing development applications for better experience and support housing supply outcomes in Greater Melbourne. Over the past 6 months, we’ve undertaken a major initiative to clear the backlog of applications.

We’ve revised non-statutory timeframes and we’ve engaged with peak development industry bodies to establish service standards and performance updates to demonstrate how we’re tracking against the standards.

We’re now well positioned to achieve our commitment of ensuring at least 90% of applications meet the timeframes outlined in our service standards moving forward.
