Anyone could make a submission in their preferred language, and provide supporting documents (such as photos) as part of their submission.

Submissions should outline:

  • your interest in the review
  • how you were impacted by the Maribyrnong River flood event
  • the issues and information you would like the Independent Review Panel to consider

The information provided should be within the scope of the review and focus on the following factors:

What we will do with your submission

Your submission will be provided to the Independent Review Panel. They will review and consider all relevant submissions and you may be contacted to discuss your submission further with the Review Panel.

Melbourne Water will retain written submissions or other supporting documentation until the panel report has been released.

All written submissions will be treated as public documents and placed online for public access as soon as practical following the close of the submission period, unless the panel specifically directs that something is to remain confidential. All personal details and identifying information will be redacted from submissions placed online.

Our collection, use and disclosure of your personal information is regulated by Victorian privacy laws including the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic).

The information you provide is being collected for the purpose of informing the Maribyrnong River Flood Review. By making a submission you consent to Melbourne Water collecting any personal information which you provide in, and with, your responses. Personal information includes names, addresses, business details, geographical location information, phone numbers and email addresses.

Melbourne Water may do the following with the information you provide:

  • Contact you directly to verify or clarify the information you provided, including if the Review Panel wishes to conduct a follow up meeting with you.
  • Publish your submission online as part of the review process, with all identifying information will be redacted.
  • If required, make your submission available to other Victorian Government agencies governed by the same privacy laws as Melbourne Water.
  • Share the personal information you provided in a de-identified statistical format with other Victorian local and state government authorities that are involved in the review.

Melbourne Water will delete personal information when it is no longer required except where archiving is required and in compliance with any applicable laws including the Public Records Act 1973 (Vic).

You are entitled to access and correct your personal information. If you would like to access or correct the information you have provided to Melbourne Water, please contact us by email, [email protected]. In some cases, requests for personal information may be handled in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic).
