We understand the importance and value of trees and plants to local communities. The designs of the bridge and pipe alignment has gone through a careful design process to avoid as much tree loss as possible.

Every tree in the impact zone has been considered and assessed by a qualified arborist. In this section of the works, we will be removing approximately six trees. Some of these trees include a variety of indigenous, native and exotic trees ranging in various age and health. We have worked closely with Maribyrnong City Council to ensure these trees can be potentially repurposed within other areas of Maribyrnong.

We have received planning permits to remove all impacted trees, shrubs and ground cover vegetation by Maribyrnong City Council and the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA).

As part of our reinstatement works closer to the end of construction, we will be replanting trees and shrubs along the banks of the Maribyrnong. These replanted trees and shrubs will be an increase to the total vegetation quantity that existed prior to removal.
