Social Media Community Guidelines apply to those visiting and interacting on Melbourne Water’s social media platforms, which are listed below:

Remember that our pages are public, so anything you post on it will be visible to everyone - even if they don't have an account. We want to provide our community members with a place that is respectful, reliable, relevant and safe.

When posting anything on our pages, please adhere to our Community Guidelines and respect your fellow community members.

In the interests of the community, we may need to remove your posts if they contain:

  1. Anything that could be considered off-topic, inflammatory, repetitive, offensive, defamatory, discriminatory, denigrating, or otherwise inappropriate;
  2. Swearing, abusive, racist, homophobic or sexist remarks or obscenities or sexually explicit comments or material;
  3. Personal attacks against other users, members of the public, or employees Melbourne Water;
  4. Vigilante or 'call to action' comments and content that supports illegal activity
  5. Links to other Facebook pages, any non-government or off-topic pages;
  6. Any content or links that are unlawful, or may defame, discriminate, offend, interfere with privacy or infringe copyright or other intellectual property rights.
  7. Spam, promotion, or endorsements of unrelated organisations. This includes promotion or endorsement of any financial, commercial, or non-governmental agency.

Users found to be repeatedly engaging in any of the above activities will be warned first. After the warning, users found to be continuing to engage in these activities will have their comments deleted without further warnings. Where appropriate, users will also be banned from our page.
