10 November 2022

In October, we informed you that numerous sections of the Western Treatment Plant birdwatching route had to be closed due to coastal erosion, flooding and environmental protection.

We are pleased to report that the erosion repairs along the coastal road of the Lake Borrie birdwatching route are now complete. In addition, the majority of the Orange-bellied Parrots have also left the site for their migration across Bass Strait.

This means we have been able to re-open most of the birdwatching routes at the Western Treatment Plant.

One road remains closed

Due to the recent rain, and subsequent localised flooding, Gate 2 Western Lagoon route will remain closed.

There is signage at this gate stating that it is currently closed and we will notify birdwatchers, via a YourSay update email, as soon as it re-opens.

We appreciate your patience during this unprecedented period of road closures and hope you enjoy visiting the site again.

If you have any questions please contact us.
