We would like to remind all birdwatchers that:

  • Access hours are from dawn to dusk only. Anyone caught onsite outside these hours will have their site access revoked indefinitely.
  • Birdwatching access is only permitted on Gates 1-8. All other gates and fences are deemed operational areas, where entry – even on foot – will result in your site access being revoked.

Birdwatching access areas are clearly indicated on the Birdwatching access map (PDF, 2.61MB). The birdwatching route is marked on-site with directional blue signage. Please familiarise yourself with the route and carry this map with you when visiting the Western Treatment Plant.

Please also familiarise yourself with the Birdwatching conditions and hazards document (PDF, 2.13MB) for conduct expected of birdwatchers when visiting the Western Treatment Plant.

We regularly patrol all operational and birdwatching areas 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please report any suspicious or untoward behaviour to us immediately to keep our birdwatchers and birdwatching areas safe.
