We’re updating stormwater flood maps for Melbourne Water's main drains in the Merri-bek council area. To confirm our maps are accurate, we’ll be seeking your knowledge of past flooding and changes to the built environment – like fences, landscaping and other works that may affect stormwater flows.

There are three maps being updated in your area, reflecting the different sources of flooding. The information they provide will be used to plan for infrastructure, housing and emergencies.

This work is part of the Greater Melbourne Flood Information Program.

Note: Each council area has two types of stormwater drainage systems:

  • regional drains managed by Melbourne Water.
  • local drains managed by the council.

Merri-bek City Council has completed community engagement for the local drains and endorsed its stormwater flood map on 13 August 2025. This current consultation is only for Melbourne Water’s regional drains.
