To support the Strategy’s co-delivery, a second round of flood project grants are available this financial year through the Liveable Communities Liveable Waterways program. The grants can be used for strategic risk-based maintenance projects or other council-led actions in the strategy that demonstrate innovation and ‘beyond best practice’.

If you have a project idea or would like to discuss your application, please contact the Flood Partnerships Program Lead on 9473 5177 as applications close at 5pm, 15 November 2024.

Grant eligibility

Grants of up to $45,000 (excluding GST) are available this financial year (2024-25) to deliver strategic or innovative council-led actions.

To be eligible for a grant, your council must be an endorsing organisation of the Strategy.
Your flood project must also meet eligibility criteria and align with the principles and themes in our Guidelines for Liveable Communities, Liveable Waterways (PDF, 3MB).

Action 3.3 in the Strategy refers to “develop and deliver flood and drainage infrastructure maintenance programs,” with the output allowing for maintenance programs to be defined and then strategically delivered for flood and drainage assets. For the council-led actions, refer to the Strategy Action Plan 2021-26 (PDF, 4.5MB).

Grant applications must align with the State Government’s investment principles for grants, and must also seek to drive organisational innovation and provide multiple benefits.
