What we are doing

As part of Melbourne Water’s commitment to safety, we are ensuring that lessees are fulfilling the requirements of lease agreements, with regards to electrical connections on jetties and pontoons.

We are undertaking an audit of electrical certificates for electrical installations on Melbourne Water-owned jetties and pontoons.

What you need to do

If you have an electrical connection to your jetty or pontoon, please email a copy of your electrical safety certificate to [email protected] by Friday 7 March 2025.

It is important to submit your certificate by this date to avoid safety hazards and potential breaches of your lease. If you do not hold or are unable to obtain a certificate by this date please contact us.

For the most recent information regarding Victorian laws please visit the Energy Safe Victoria website www.esv.vic.gov.au or phone 9203 9700.

What happens next

Failure to provide a current electrical safety certificate will be in breach of the lease conditions. Melbourne Water will not be able to undertake any maintenance works on the jetty or pontoon until an electrical safety certificate is provided.

Unapproved power additions and extension leads must be removed by the owner. Ongoing breaches of lease conditions may result in the lease being terminated.
