Developed in collaboration with Shannon Behaviour Change and BehaviourWorks Australia, the Litter Prevention Toolkit is designed to empower local councils, community groups and litter advocacy organisations to tackle litter.

The toolkit is built on behaviour change research and insights from a community forum, and addresses a key gap in public understanding: the link between urban littering and its impact on our waterways.

It includes a suite of ready-to-use resources to help promote litter prevention behaviours, using clear, universal messaging. The range of resources are tailored to support both industry professionals and community, in driving positive behaviour change and reducing litter.

This includes:

  • semi-customisable posters
  • social media templates
  • bin and floor decals
  • discussion guides for approaching construction groups, schools and community.

Visit the Litter Prevention Toolkit page on the Melbourne Water website to download the resources, along with a practical implementation guide to help you get started!
