Register for the Portal to easily find downloadable GIS data relating to our core water and land services, in commonly used formats.
We support the work that councils do by providing the following services:
- planning, coordinating and delivering on new drainage assets and asset renewal
- implementing and partnering on flood planning, information and preparedness
- managing waterways and catchments, and the open spaces valued by the community
- undertaking integrated water management (IWM) and stormwater management planning and project
- preparing and maintaining Development Service Schemes
- responding to development application referrals and conditions
- responding to climate change and building resilience
- undertaking asset maintenance, such as weed management, revegetation and waterway management, and
- responding to flood, bushfire and pollution emergencies.

Flood management capacity building
We deliver free capacity-building programs, tailored to councils, to improve data capture, modelling and interpretation of information, under Action 1.6 of the Flood Management Strategy.
Clearwater: capacity-building training and events
Hosted and funded by Melbourne Water, Clearwater works with the water industry to transform the way we manage water – using integrated water management for healthy, connected communities.
Liveable Communities, Liveable Waterways grants
Our incentives program is open throughout the year to all our customers, including councils, for a range of activities that help improve waterway health and liveability.
