The project area is part of the Heathdale Glen Orden Basin, and it's function is to temporarily store water during heavy rain.
The project area has numerous environmental and community values, with a wetlands, BMX track, community facilities and business district nearby
This section of the D1 Drain has a mix of closed and open drains and water is visible depending on rainfall levels.
The open space around the D1 drain is used by local residents, but the project aims to make it a friendly space that invites more interaction.
