Updated draft flood maps have now been released for the Yarra, Darebin, Glen Eira and Merri-bek communities as part of the Greater Melbourne Flood Information Program.

We appreciate the support of our council partners to improve flood information across Greater Melbourne. The release of the first draft flood maps is a key step towards updating and replacing more than 1000 waterway and stormwater flood models with updated information.

Community members can view the updated maps online, and can enter an address to see location-specific flood information.

During the consultation phase, residents are encouraged to share local insights of flooding. This feedback will help validate the flood maps or identify areas for further investigation. Following this phase, final updated maps will be made available. Updating and making flood information readily available is an important obligation of Melbourne Water’s floodplain management responsibilities.

The release of flood maps is being promoted through our social media channels, posters, local paper ads and council platforms and networks. Melbourne Water will support the community through online and face-to-face community sessions and doorknocking homes in the high hazard areas.

This initial release of flood maps will be followed by updates for the remaining councils within the Melbourne Water catchment area, commencing in 2026.
